In the lead up to the 2018 Primary STEM Expo, Tahmoor Public School has been awarded one of the first Google Computer Science Educator awards in Australia. The award supports teacher professional development and is provided on a merit basis to schools who have established a relationship with a STEM professional development provider. The joint award between TPS and Dr Marc Noakes from Accent on Achievement contributes to the continued success and development of the Primary STEM Hub initiative.
This year TPS will host more than 70 schools from the NSW Central Coast to Wagga Wagga at the Primary STEM Expo, which is an outreach component of the P-STEM Hub. More than 700 teachers and students will participate in a range of workshops that are being run by 25 partner organisations. We hope that the Expo inspires other schools to adopt a similar approach to teaching and learning Primary STEM.
As part of the award, Dr Noakes has been invited to attend the 2018 Google Computer Science Outreach Partner Summit, which brings together top CS partners across Australia and New Zealand for two days of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
