Catching public transport

Catching a bus
Tahmoor Public School supports students who travel by bus, making the process safe, supervised, and stress-free.
Key things for parents to know:
- Staff supervise students during afternoon bus lines to ensure they board the correct bus safely
- It’s important that children know their bus number/animal and stop
- Any changes to travel arrangements should be communicated to the school office in advance
- Please remind your child to follow all bus safety rules and show respect to the driver and other passengers

Driving and parking
The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
When driving and parking near our school, please:
- ensure you park safely in school zones
- follow speed signs
- do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school.
To help ensure a safe and efficient start to the school day, Tahmoor Public School provides a designated drop-off and pick-up zone for families from 8am-9:30am and 2:30pm-4pm.
Here’s how you can help keep it safe for everyone:
- Stay in your car – this is a kiss-and-go zone
- Move forward as space becomes available
- Keep the line moving – no parking or waiting in the zone
- Use school crossings and follow directions from the School Crossing Supervisors when present
Ride to School
At Tahmoor Public School, we encourage healthy, active lifestyles — and riding to school is a great way for students to start their day energized and ready to learn. To support this, we provide a secure bike rack on school grounds where students can safely park their bikes during the day.
We recommend that all students:
- Wear a helmet as required by law
- Walk bikes within school grounds for safety
